He is considered one of the greatest basketballl minds. Â He has coached some of the greatest players of all time including Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Â Now, Phil Jackson has taken his talent to New York City to try and right the Knicks ship. Â Jackson was hired by Knick owner James Dolan to make all team-related decisions and of course implement the triangle offense.
At first there were rumors that Jackson would coach that team himself, but he denied it and eventually hired Derek Fisher, a player he used to coach. Â Fisher was coming off his final season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was a natural leader so the move made sense. Â It was clear the Knicks needed a lot of work before they would ever be championship team, but it has been a rough first season for Jackson and the Knicks.
The Knicks made some moves in the offseason, including signing their big superstar Carmelo Anthony to a lengthy and very lucrative contract. Â However, the Knicks currently have one of the worst records and there are rumors that teammates are fighting.
