Sports are meant to inspire people.  Normally, it is men and women doing things that most of us could never even imagine doing.  In the case of Lauren Hill, the story is much deeper.  Hill is a 19-year-old college freshman who is battling terminal cancer.  Doctors have informed Lauren and her family that she will likely not live past this month.  However, that has not gotten her spirits down.

Hill is on her school’s basketball team and the NCAA allowed Mount St. Joseph to start their season earlier to allow Hill to live her dream of playing n a college game.  She has now played in two games and will play in her first game at home in front of all her friends and family as well as the many fans she has made over recent months.  Everyone has become a fan of Lauren’s including Cavaliers’ star Lebron James who tweeted a congratulatory message to her after playing in her first game and scoring a basket.

Hill has remained upbeat about life deciding to treasure every moment rather than dwell on her eventual fate.  “I know I will be fine,” Lauren said. “Because I feel like I’ve done God’s work, what he sent me here to do. I feel like maybe, I’m not done yet. Maybe that’s why I’m still here.”
