Oscar Pistorius went from a world-renowned sports hero to a cold blooded killer in a matter of minutes.  He won gold medals at the 2012 Paralympics in the men’s 400-metres race and 4×400 metres relay most recently.   On Valentine’s Day in 2013, Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in their South Africa home.

Pistorius claimed that he thought she was an intruder trying to break into their home.  He was arrested and charged with her murder.  The trial was one of the most talked about with Pistorius constantly being shown crying and vomiting when the medical examiner and experts talked about his girlfriend’s lifeless body. On September 12th, he was found guilty of culpable homicide and one firearm related charge.  Judge Thokozile Masipa acquitted Pistorius of premeditated murder.  He was sentenced him to five years in prison.
