After an explosive AFC Wild Card game Saturday, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh called Ravens’ Joe Flacco “the best quarterback in football.”

This bold statement came after the Ravens beat AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in a 30-17 playoff victory.

The Steelers were three-point favorites over the Ravens, but this was playoff football, and the playoffs are where Flacco really shines.

In Baltimore’s first ever playoff victory over their adversaries, Flacco threw 18 of 29 for 259 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Flacco finished with a passer rating of 114.0.

“I think he had a perfect quarterback rating in the third quarter,” Coach Harbaugh gushed when talking about his quarterback. “That’s playoff football. That’s Joe Flacco.”

This season, Flacco quietly had the best season of his career. Just short of 4,000 yards, Flacco passed for 3,986 yards which was a career high for the seventh season quarterback.

Around the league, Flacco is called “Joe Cool” for his relaxed demeanor in seemingly high stress situations. “He’s ‘Cool Joe’,” Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said in the postgame press conference. “The situations may change, but we don’t. Joe didn’t change. That’s his game. He’s going to make plays.”

Joe Cool is no stranger to playoff football. Flacco has been playmaker for the Ravens last three trips to the playoffs. Since 2012, the elite quarterback is 5-0 in the postseason, racking up 13 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Harbaugh gave Flacco the game ball Saturday night. The Ravens will need Joe Cool to continue the team’s journey to Arizona when they play the Patriots next week in Foxborough.
