With all of his teammates there on stage with him, he gave a speech that brought a tear to almost everyone’s eye. Durant, already one of the most humble players in the NBA, took the time to thank the one person who has been there for him since day one, his mother. The woman who sacrificed everything to ensure that her children a good childhood. Who can forget when he said, “Mom, you’re the real MVP?”
He shared personal memories with each of his teammates and thanked them for their contributions to this award. He became choked up when he talked about the tough times he had been through, but that he is still standing. Durant continued by talking about how much he loves the game of basketball and the first time he ever picked up a basketball. It was one of the greatest speeches ever delivered by an athlete and just another reason to like Kevin Durant!
