Martin Scorcese could not have scripted it any better.  The New York Rangers battled the Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday for a game six showdown on Mother’s Day. Newly acquired Ranger, Martin St. Louis, lost his mother just days ago unexpectedly.  The entire St Louis family was in attendance for the game where the Rangers faced elimination.

Despite being overwhelmed with emotion St. Louis scored the first goal for New York.  Rangers fans chanted “Marty” throughout the game as it was clear St. Louis was struggling his emotions during the game.  The Rangers went on to win the game 3-1 to force a game seven.
