It has been over a decade since the New England Patriots were counted at this much. They finished the season on very shaky ground, but it’s the Patriots for all we know they might have done that on purpose to create some additional bulletin board material. Top cornerback Stephen Gilmore referred to it as the “starting-over mentality” in relation to how the season ended. Head coach Bill Belichick and company just always finds a way to win at the time of the year.

The Power of Tom Brady

There’s not many other quarterbacks you want to have in pursuit of the Lombardi than Tom Brady. He is one of the greatest players to even throw a football. The man has won 78 percent of the games he’s played in, what makes us sure he can’t win one more?

Many want to say this was his worst year as a starting quarterback. The numbers, however, prove there’s probably something still left in the tank. For such a down season. Brady threw for 4,057 yards, completing 79 percent of his passes for 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. There’s plenty of younger quarterbacks who would love to put up numbers like that.

His favorite target Julian Edelman, despite being injured for the majority of the season, said he felt good. That has to be the best news Patriots fans have heard in weeks. Edelman is a game changer and instantly makes Brady better.

Can you really bet against the greatest of all time?

New England Defense

The New England Patriots had the best turnover differential (plus 21) in the league, but failed to create any turnovers in their final two games. Being so familiar with Ryan Tannehill, expect that to change. It is definitely something coach Belichick had drilled into their minds to focus on so you can expect this defense to be looking to take the ball.

The Patriots’ defensive backfield is easily the best in the league. Tannehill will have to be his most accurate self in order to not turn the ball over. Belichick is going to find a way to stop Derrick Henry and force Tannehill to throw, putting the game on his arm.
