After the news broke on Tuesday, that Geno Smith would be out for the season for a broken jaw and it was found out that IK Enemkpali was one who punched him, the New York Jets dropped Enemkpali from their roster. Clearly, the Buffalo Bills saw the potential in Enemkpali and proceeded to sign him on Wednesday, immediately following the incident. If you remember, the Bills hired former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan.  One last jab at his former team?

Since Enemkpali’s second chance with the Bills, he has released a statement, apologizing: “I apologize to the Jets organization, coaches, teammates and fans,” and continued on “Geno and I let our frustration get the best of us, but I should have just walked away from the situation. I deeply regret and apologize for my actions. It was never my intention to harm anyone. I appreciate the opportunity I had with the Jets.” Since the incident, more details have been released, including the cause of the fight which turned out to be $600 dollars that Smith owed Enemkpali for an unused plane ticket.  Smith has opted to have surgery to repair his broken jaw. He issued a message for Jets fans on his Instagram account,

Even though Enemkpali signed with the Bills, it’s unclear if he will actually play a game. It looks like he could be facing charges from the NFL due to violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Enemkpali also released a statement upon signing with the Bills, “I’m very grateful and thankful and happy to be a Bill. I look forward to being a good teammate, accountable player and accountable teammate to this organization.” Currently, the league is looking into the incident but have yet to make a decision on if Enemkpali will be face discipline from the league.
