If this was exactly one year ago, the New Orleans Saints would be considered a Super Bowl worthy team. Now, after one of the biggest offseason scandals took head coach Sean Payton, they find themselves 0-2. Yes, the season is still young and the Saints have plenty of time to figure things out. This should have been a win for the Saints of last year, but this year it resulted in an ugly 35-27 loss. The Saints have looked lost. They could not answer Can Newton’s ability to run. The Saints have had their own difficulty running the ball as they constantly look to Mark Ingram for answers, but Ingram is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry. When they opened the season against Washington in New Orleans, I would have expected a big game from the Saints in front of their hometown crowd. They have some of the most devoted fans in the “Who Dat” nation ever since Hurricane Katrina and all the joy that was brought back to the city with the Super Bowl win. However, RG3 had his way in the Superdome and the Saints lost 40-32. There is also a problem on defense who has given up 40 and 35 points in their first two games. The secondary has been vulnerable to the big play. It is definitely not too late for the Saints to figure things out and I have confidence that they will. This is a resilient team and they have motivation to show the league that even though they took their coach away, they still have what it takes to hold the trophy in the end.
