If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, then you’ve been missing a saga in the NBA. While the NBA is known as being one of the tamer sports, a scandal has been following around DeAndre Jordan, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks. “Scandal” would be putting it lightly, because this situation has become a complete mess. While three parties are involved, it seems to be something that the whole world has gotten in on regardless of how they feel.

Center, DeAndre Jordan was drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008 in which he signed his first contract for 3 years and then from 2011-2014, Jordan was under contract with the Clippers before he became a free agent in 2015. On July 1st, free agency for the NBA started which is when teams can actually try make offers to free agents and then on July 9th, the team can sign their free agents. Now is where it starts to get confusing, so be prepared!

On July 9th, the Dallas Mavericks planned to sign their new center, DeAndre Jordan. Jordan had opted out of his contract with the Clippers and made a “verbal agreement” with the Mavericks. His contract was supposed to be 4 years for $80 million dollars, but after thinking about it for one day, Jordan changed his mind and decided to resign with the Clippers. While that would seem like the end of it, Jordan took to twitter to publicly apologize to both the Dallas Mavericks organization and most notably their owner, Mark Cuban.

While the Dallas Mavericks franchise has not released a statement, Cuban has. Cuban shared his thoughts via an ESPN’s Tim MacMahon’s twitter. Right now, it looks like Cuban is ready to leave all of this behind him with the signing of center, Zaza Pachulia. Even though everyone is trying to put it behind them, it looks like this is going to be one of the biggest scandals coming out of the NBA in 2015, for now.
