nfl-teamsThe season is flying by! We already have a team who secured a playoff spot this week.  Who else, the Seattle Seahawks are the first team to punch their ticket to the postseason!

  • With their impressive win against the New Orleans Saints, the Seahawks are in the playoffs and more than likely will have the number one seed in the NFC.  With a commanding 34-7 win, Seattle proved its dominance once again at home.  Russell Wilson still has yet to lose a game at home in his career and last night we saw why.  This team is so good on both sides of the ball.  Their defense feeds off the crowd and Wilson has become one of the most intelligent quarterbacks in the league combined with his versatility. This team got better after losing another cornerback, Walter Thurmond, to a drug suspension which is unbelievable.
  • The Denver Broncos also made a statement in their quest for the playoffs behind a five touchdown game from Peyton Manning. Four of those touchdowns went to Eric Decker who had the best game of his career. The Broncos swept the Chiefs and now have a one game lead over Kansas City.  The Chiefs were without Justin Houston and Tamba Hali was far from 100 percent, but have struggled offensively as well.  Receivers dropped many passes that could have easily gotten them back in the game.  The Chiefs have a lot of things going wrong right now after getting off to such a hot start.
  • The Redskins lost another game and have now been officially eliminated from any hopes of going to the playoffs.  Many people thought this team was a Super Bowl contender after last year’s magical run, but this team is horrible. They have problems on offense, defense, and special teams.  Robert Griffin III has struggled all season, but it is not all on him. He was hit 16 times during the game against the New York Giants and that has become the theme for the Redskins this season.  With their season virtually over, it will be very telling who continues to show up every Sunday.
  • While football on Thanksgiving is something we are all thankful for, the only telling game turned out to be the Ravens-Steelers.  Steelers head coach has come under serious fire after standing too close to the field while Jacoby Jones ran back a punt.  He is facing a hefty fine and it is still undetermined if the Steelers will also face a penalty.  He has admitted his wrong, but that does not change the fact that his team lost and it looks less likely that they will fully turn this ship around after a terrible start. Pittsburgh has really picked up their level of play, mostly behind some great performances by Ben Roethlisberger.  This week, the Dolphins fly to Pittsburgh where Mike Wallace will face his former team for the first time since signing a massive contract with the Dolphins where he has been one of the biggest underachievers this season.
