Someone in Greg Hardy’s camp really needs to tell him to stop speaking.  In a recent interview with ESPN that is set to air tomorrow, NFL free agent Greg Hardy claims he is “innocent” in his domestic violence case with his former girlfriend.  He continues by saying he has never laid a hand on a woman in his entire life.  He clearly must have forgotten that we all saw the crime photos from the alleged incident. Interviewer Adam Schefter asked about the photos and if Hardy was implying that he did nothing wrong.  Hardy suddenly pulls the plus on the good boy act and says, “I will stop you there and say that I didn’t say that I didn’t do anything wrong.”

You are not alone in shaking your head at this feeble attempt to clear his name and get another job.  His former teammate Steve Smith found the statement disturbing, sharing on his Twitter:

Smith’s mother is a domestic violence survivor so this is an issue very close to his heart.  Smith and his wife Angie also founded the Steve Smith Foundation which helps families affected by domestic violence as well as fundraise for House of Ruth Maryland, a shelter for domestic violence victims.  If the NFL is serious about cleaning up it’s image, maybe it should look to a guy like Smith to lead the charge and kick out guys like Hardy who just don’t seem to get it.
