NFL: Baltimore Ravens at New England PatriotsDespite originally feeling that former New England tight end Aaron Hernandez would not be able to collect his guaranteed base salary from the Patriots, the NFLPA has changed its tune.  While Hernandez sits in jail awaiting trial in the death of Odin Lloyd, the NFLPA will try to get the money he is due.  For 2013, Hernandez was guaranteed to make $1.323 million and $1.137 million in 2014.  The player’s association will seek both of these amounts as well as $500,000, a 2014 guaranteed workout bonus.

The Patriots only retort is that Hernandez was not cut because of performance on the field or salary cap, but instead conduct that was detrimental to the team.  Facing a murder charge falls into that category if you were not sure.  Not a dollar will go to the Lloyd family as they sit and wait to get Odin justice. Before getting caught up in this mess, Hernandez signed a five-year contract worth $37.5 million.
