Ever since Michael Sam was drafted, he has been plagued with controversy. Not so much controversy but backlash for his sexual orientation. From the way that people acted after he kissed his boyfriend during the draft, it was clear that the NFL was not ready for an openly gay player. When Sam was dropped from the St. Louis Rams roster, it was unclear if he would have a career in football again. However, Sam did not give up and it paid off for him!

Michael Sam has been signed with the CFL team, Montreal Alouettes. Sam has signed a 2 year contract with the Canadian team, estimated around $350,000. However, Sam does not care about money or how influential he is going to be. In a press conference for his new team, Sam said this: “I’m not trying to really do anything historic here by being with Montreal, I’m just trying to help the team win some games so we can bring the Grey Cup back home,”. Maybe this will finally be the push to get Sam into the NFL or he will just end up becoming a star in the CFL. Either way, Sam will finally get an opportunity to play football.
