Tough break for the New York Knicks who will be without center Tyson Chandler for over a month. During yesterday’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats, Chandler and Bobcats point guard Kemba Walker collided and he immediately grabbed his knee. Â Chandler did not return to the game and Knicks fans feared the worst. Â Unfortunately, the worst was confirmed when it was announced he suffered a non-displaced fracture in his fibula. Â This will force him to be sidelined at least until mid December.
The only positive is that he did not tear any ligaments and will not require any surgery. Â In his absence, Knicks head coach plans on using a rotation of Amar’e Stoudemire, Kenyon Martin, and Cole Aldrich. Â Stoudemire’s minuted have been limited to ten per game after undergoing three knee procedures within 12 months. Â Martin is still limited by a lingering ankle injury that he suffered at the end of last season. Â This puts the Knicks at a huge disadvantage without their former Defensive Player of the Year and the number of limitations with his replacements. Â New York lost to the Bobcats and are now 1-3 on the season.
