130403144712-kevin-ware-injury-story-bodyHe is the college student who captured everyone’s hearts during March Madness when he suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in sports history.  During a game against the Duke Blue Devils in the Elite Eight, Ware fell in such a way that the bone in his leg was coming out of his skin.  It was hard to look at even for Louisville head coach Rick Pitino.

Ware was rushed to the hospital and in his honor, the Cardinals went on to not only beat Duke, but to win the NCAA Championship.  He became such an inspiration for his teammates as well as people across the world dealing with injuries.  Many thought he would be forced to sit out this season, but being the inspiration that he is, Ware is back to playing.  Today, just seven months after suffering the injury, Coach Pitino announced that Ware had been cleared to get back on the court.

Ware worked so hard to come back, documenting his journey on his social media accounts.  From leaving the hospital to his first dunk since surgery, Ware showed that anything was possible as long as you tried.  He never seemed anxious or nervous to get back on the court.  Ware will likely be ready for the start of the season when Louisville gets ready to defend their national title. It will be amazing to see Ware step back on the court for the first time and see how he plays.  At least he knows his teammates, Cardinals Nation, and everybody else who watched his journey will be rooting for him to succeed!
