Joe Torre made a lot of catches in his career as an infielder.  Some were spectacular, but he is now being overshadowed by his own daughter Cristina! While walking down the street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Cristina looked up and noticed a tiny toddler had crawled out of the window.  Scared that the baby could fall, she immediately called 9-1-1.  The worst possible scenario did end up happening and the baby did fall from the fire escape on the third floor of the apartment building.  With no police on the scene yet, Cristina channeled he inner baseball skills and caught the falling baby herself!  I was still talking to 911 and I just put out my arms, and literally, it was effortless,” she said. “It was meant to be. He landed in my arms.”

Luckily the baby was safe and sound suffering no injuries from his fall.  A witness of the heroic catch, Kirsten Bramsen called Torre a “hero” and could not stop thanking her.  When her father heard about her heroic catch, Joe Torre said he “got goosebumps”.  The baby’s parents were sleeping at the time and were arrested for child endangerment.  Torre, a school teacher, said that it was instinctual for her and deflected the praise from others. Well Cristina, you are a hero!
