24football-3-articleLargeTwo teams that have so much history and hatred towards each other square off tonight for Thursday Night Football.  Oh and they gave us the now infamous Buttfumble.  The New York Jets and New England Patriots square off in Foxborough for what could be the most equally matched game in years.  Tom Brady is still the quarterback which will always be a mismatch for most teams, but he is missing a lot of his favorite targets.  Last week against the Bills, we saw Brady struggle to connect with his new receivers.  Tonight he will most likely be without tight end rob Gronkowski and receiver Danny Amendola. Amendola is known for not being able to stay healthy on the field and made him a risky pickup when Wes Welker walked.

The Jets will also be without receiver Jeremy Kerley who suffered a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  It was also announced that Mark Sanchez will likely need shoulder surgery which would end his 2013 season leaving all the pressure on rookie Geno Smith.  Do you think he’s nervous to play against one of the best of all time?  He should have some confidence that his defense looked strong last week which will hopefully help to keep the ball out of Brady’s hands.  It is probably the only way the Jets stand a chance.

The Patriots looked a little shaky last, but I am still not ready to write them off with Tom Brady as their quarterback.  Brady is a great who will make his receivers better.  The Jets are going into a very hostile place where they are not well liked with a rookie quarterback who is still getting his footing in the league.  If the Jets’ defense cannot stop Brady and the Patriots offense, this could be yet another very ugly game for the Jets.  Jets vs. Patriots- who you takin?
