yahoo_genosmithdnpTwo tough hitting defense square off in Cincinnati tonight.  The Bengals welcome in the New York Jets who are coming off an overtime win against the New England Patriots. If you need proof of how hard the Jets front seven hits, just ask Tom Brady who was listed on the Patriots’ injury list this week.  The Jets have really turned around their reputation this season with the addition of rookie Sheldon Richardson who is a great complement to Muhammad Wilkerson. However, the Bengals have a pretty good defense and one thing the Jets lack, a standout wide receiver.  AJ Green is one of the most athletic receivers in the league and can generally catch anything thrown his way.  Antonio Cromartie is going to have a long day running after him.

Rookie Geno Smith has had a very interesting season so far.  Some weeks, he has looked great and just the answer to all the Jets’ prayers, but then other weeks, he has looked, well, like a rookie.  The Bengals have also had some concern about the quarterback position.  Many wonder why the Bengals have not advanced further with all the talent on that team, and many fingers point to Dalton.   However, Dalton has helped this team take a two game lead in the NFC North, while currently on a three game winning streak.

His inconsistency makes picking the Jets risky, and I think the Bengals will get pressure on Smith and make him throw some bad passes.  Cincinnati should come out of this one with a win, and create more confusion for the Jets and their quarterback for the future.  The Jets can bring the pressure on defense, but do not have enough on offense to win games week after week.  The Bengals have the talent to be an elite team, and with the Ravens and Steelers stuck in neutral, this could be their year.  Jets vs. Bengals- who you takin?
