Everyone had had an opinion on the comments made by disgraced Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Â Sterling has been banned for life from any involvement with the Clippers and dragged through the mud by society. Â The woman who is heard on the tapes with Sterling, V. Siviano, has had he sit down interview to try and defend Sterling. Â His estranged wife, Shelly, recently sat down with Barbara Walters who tried to blame his words on early-set dementia.
Now, he will get his own chance to defend his tarnished name. Sterling did his first interview since the release of the tapes with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Â Sterling released a statement to Dujour magazine earlier in which he said he “wished he paid her off” when referring to Stiviano. Â Never did he apologize for his words even after he admitted that it was his voice on the tapes.
He is singing quite a different tune now, however.  Sterling asks for forgiveness saying he is a “good member” who made a “terrible mistake”.  On the tapes, he refers specifically to Magic Johnson.  When asked about it, Sterling said, “If I said anything wrong, I’m sorry.  He’s a good person. I mean, what am I going to say? Has he done everything he can do to help minorities? I don’t think so. But I’ll say it, he’s great. But I don’t think he’s a good example for the children of Los Angeles.” Â
He vows he will never do it again and it was his only mistake in 35 years. Â Listen Mr. Sterling, plenty of people make mistakes and do not make vile and racist comments. Â Leave with whatever dignity you have left and go enjoy the rest of your life. Â The full interview airs tonight at 8PM on CNN. Â Below is a preview of the interview.
