The Dodgers said they wanted their man and they got him. Â Los Angeles has locked up their ace, Clayton Kershaw, for the next seven years. Â Kershaw has won the Cy Young award twice in the past two years and is now the highest paid pitcher in the league.
He will receive $215 million over those seven years. Previously, Â Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander was the highest paid pitcher after landing a seven year deal with the Tigers worth $180 million. Reportedly, the Dodgers were willing to give their pitcher up to $300 million. Â He has an out clause after the fifth year of his contract.
