Daryl Washington is just the latest NFL player to let his team down.  Arizona’s inside linebacker has been suspended by the league for violating its substance abuse policy. He will sit out all of 2014.  Washington missed four games last season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Arizona general manager Steve Keim made a statement on Washington’s suspension, “It’s completely unacceptable that Daryl has once again put us in this position.  We all know what the consequences are and will deal with them. From a personal standpoint, our hope is that this suspension will give Daryl the opportunity to accept the necessary help and guidance to get his life back on track, and we will certainly support him however we can.”

Washington was also facing a suspension after getting arrested last May for aggravated assault.  The charges stem from a fight with his ex-girlfriend.  He was sentenced to one-year of supervised probation. Despite missing four games, Washington was the Cardinals third leading tackler.  Free agent linebacker Ernie Sims is in Arizona currently visiting with the team.
