Just because the NBA trade deadline has passed doesn’t mean there is not still moves to be made.

Up until March 1, teams may buyout players that will then be placed on waivers. Once they pass through waivers, they become a free agent.  The March 1 deadline is important because if they are cut after that point they will be ineligible to be on a playoff roster.

Playoff contenders particularly have their eyes open, attempting to solidify their rosters for their stretch run into the playoffs.

Some big names have already been bought out. Danny Granger, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, is said to be considering the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Glen Davis has already signed with the Clippers, while former Knick Beno Udrih has joined the Memphis Grizzlies. Udrih’s former teammate Metta World Peace was also bought out by New York.

Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski  has reported the Oklahom City Thunder have already landed Caron Butler, while Antawn Jamison (waived by Hawks) and Ben Gordon are also available.

Jimmer Fredette has also been bought out and is interested in moving East. The Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed interest according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.  Many thought the Knicks would pick up Fredette as their team continues to struggle.

It will be very interesting to see where these players end up in the coming days.
