It is crazy to think that we have finally entered the last month of the year! Â Another year has flown right by us and left us with plenty of memories. Â Good and bad, this has been another eventful year in sports. Â We start the countdown on a sad note remembering when two head coaches both fell ill on the same weekend. Â
John Fox is the head coach for the extremely talented Denver Broncos. Â On their bye week in early November, he was relaxing on a golf course in Charlotte,NC. Â He started to feel light headed and was immediately taken to a local hospital. Â He was informed that he needed heart surgery, a surgery he knew he needed, but was hoping to wait until after the season had ended. Â Doctors told him that he could wait no longer and then needed to perform an aortic valve replacement surgery right away. Â The surgery was a success and Fox stayed in the hospital until Thanksgiving to recover. Â He returned to Denver on the holiday to surprise the Broncos players. Â He has said that a return to action could happen as soon as Week 14. Â Offensive coordinator Jack Del Rio took over as interim coach.
No more than 48 hours after the news about Fox breaking out, did another coach fall ill. Â This time it was Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak who gave onlookers the scare of their lives. Â As he attempted to run off the field for half time, Kubiak collapsed to the ground and appeared in visible pain. Â He was hurting so badly, he could not even open his eyes. Â A stretcher was immediately brought out to the field and he was taken back through the tunnel where an ambulance was waiting for him outside. Â It was determined that he had suffered a mini stroke caused by blood vessels being temporarily blocked in the brain. He was fine after the incident and only missed one game. Â Kubiak returned to action by staying the coach’s box during the games against the Jaguars and Raiders. Â The Texans are having one of the most disappointing seasons in the league.

glad to see they’re both recovering
