What a sad couple of days in sports.  One injured players is awful, but to have three go down is incredibly saddening.  The first to get sidelined was Zack Greinke after breaking his collarbone when San Diego’s Carlos Quentin charged the mound.  Greinke had hit Quentin with a pitch accidently and when Quentin ran at Greinke he threw his shoulder into him.  Greinke will miss at least six weeks.

The next injured star was speed demon Blue Jay Jose Reyes.  Reyes who is notorious for base stealing, went to steal second and his ankle bent two different ways.  Reyes could not get off the field on his own and looked like he was in extreme pain.  What was more heartbreaking was that cameras got him crying in the dugout.  Clearly he was in tremendous pain and it is undetermined how long he will be out for.  Considering how valuable his ability to run is, he could miss a good portion of the season.

The last injury was possibly the most severe and it was Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant going down with a possible torn Achilles.  While looking at the video, the injury is not something visible.  The only way you can tell Bryant is injured by his expression and inability to get up.  Kobe, who is known for his toughness on the court, could possibly miss the postseason and all of nest season. Next year is the last year in Kobe’s contract and while many are predicting this injury to be career ending, I cannot imagine Kobe Bryant going out like this.  However, the Lakers chances of making a run in this year’s playoffs just diminished to almost zero.

Nobody wants to see this happen to these players or any players.  All of these players are in my thought and prayers.  I wish them nothing, but a speedy recovery!
