The Kansas City Royals knew they could not lose two games in a row at home.  Their offense could muster one run in game one against the Giants.  They needed a spark and that is exactly what they got in the sixth inning.  Up until that time, the game had been tied at two.

Billy Butler broke the tie with an RBI angle, but it was Salvador Perez’s two run double the broke this game open.  Hunter Strickland, who gave up the hit, was clearly rattled after that hit. He was seen yelling at himself; Perez originally thought he was yelling at him and a brawl nearly broke out.  That was then followed by an Omar Infante home run.  By the end of the sixth, Kansas City had a five run lead and never gave it back.

Tim Lincecum who was once a former World Series hero, came into the game as a relief pitcher.  Lincecum, who has had a lot of up and downs in his career was dealing.  He faced five batters and did not allow a hit.  Unfortunately, that was the end of his night.  The trainers approached the mound and it was clear the former Cy Young winner was in pain.  He exited the game and is now saying it was because of tightness in his back.

This was his first appearance this postseason.  He has not made a start since August.
