The Redskins have become more well-known for their off the field drama rather than their performance on the field.  The team that had high hopes just a few years ago after drafting QB Robert Griffin III with the second overall pick.  It looked like it was a great choice for the franchise as he led them to the playoffs during his first season.  That was then and this is now.

This team has been awful since that season with Griffin III missing large chunks of time due to injury and benching.  Last week, Griffin was unable to complete the Redskins’ second preseason game after suffering a concussion and a stinger.  Originally, he was cleared to play in this week’s preseason game against the Ravens, however, after a second evaluation it was determined that he is not ready to play this week and will need to miss at least an additional week. Griffin was seen practicing all week

Kirk Cousins will start in his place for tomorrow’s game and could end up being the week one starter against the Dolphins.  The relationship between Griffin and Washington coaches has always been strained, but it seems like the only possible option left is to let the quarterback get a fresh start elsewhere and let this team start rebuilding.
