The WNBA Finals will crown a new champion. The two best teams this season, the Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun, have never won a title and both are ready to raise the trophy.

Of their three head to head match-ups, Connecticut has claimed victory two out of the three times. The Mystics, however, won the final matchup by a ridiculous 43 points.

Washington Mystics

The Mystics are back in the finals for a second straight season. The reason, the dominance of reigning MVP Elena Delle Donne. Last season, Delle Donne was dealing with a nasty bone bruise on her knee and Emma Meesseman did not play due to preparations for the Women’s World Cup. The Mystics were swept in three games by the Seattle Storm. However, both are back and healthy and showing the league the Mystics are a dominant team.

Delle Donne is coming off her second MVP season after becoming the first woman in the 50/40/90 club. Delle Donne will be a hard matchup for the Sun with Alyssa Thomas likely drawing the assignment for most of the game. The Mystics had the best record in the regular season and were at the top of just about every stat category. Delle Donne and the Mystics are ready to Run It Back!

Connecticut Sun

“Tell ‘em a bunch of role players did that!”

Courtney Williams

The Connecticut Sun are considered underdogs, but you are couldn’t tell by their attitudes. They are coming off a big sweep of the Los Angeles Sparks and are tired of the #disrespeCT. This team of “role players” has stepped up and showed out that they deserve your respect.

The reason this team has performed so well as compared to past seasons? Consistency. The Sun have had the same starting five one every game this season.

The Sun started their season without their leader Chiney Ogwumike who requested a trade in April. Jonquel Jones has stepped up into the leadership position while also benefiting from Ogwumike not being there. Jones had a career-high in field goal and 3-point attempts while also setting a record for 403 rebounds and leading the league in blocks.

Courtney Williams and her dad have captured the entire basketball world. Williams has been his daughter’s hype man throughout the playoffs just like he was there for every step of the journey to this point.
