Yet another week in the NFL has passed us by with sometimes going 2-0, while other teams still searching for win number one. There were surprises and letdowns, but that is just a typical day in the NFL.
- Peyton Manning will be Peyton Manning. Â Manning faced his younger brother this weekend in New Jersey and older brother schooled little brother. Â Peyton marched up and down the field beating the Giants’ defense with short accurate passes that the defense could not stop. Â The Giants got no pressure on Peyton even when right tackle Ryan Clady who suffered a Lisfranc injury yesterday. Â No timetable on his return, but it could be a huge blow to the protection Peyton gets during games. Little brother Eli played one of the worst games in his career throwing four interceptions; two in the end zone.
- When Aaron Rodgers is doubted, he just proves how awesome he really is. Â Rodgers and the Packers hosted the Washington Redskins who were left dumbfounded last week by the Eagles’ speedy offense. Â The Redskins have a lot of work to do on defense. Â Rodgers on a mission to prove himself as one of the best was not a good time for the Redskins to get confidence in their defense. Rodgers threw for 480 yards yesterday and four touchdowns. Â Their run defense was not any better either, Packers’ running back James Starks rushed for over 100 yards after Eddie Lacy left the game early.
- The San Francisco 49ers can be beaten and the Seahawks seem to have the formula for how to beat them. The 12th Man helped their team win a huge division matchup that could be extremely important later in the season. Breaking the noise record, fans disrupted Kaepernick and caused him to turn the ball over three times. Â It was an ugly game for the 49ers who looked like the best team in football just a week ago. Â The Seahawks achieved success by limiting the touches Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis had. The duo only combined for nine catches.
- The AFC East and NFC East are both up for grabs. Â Neither division has established a clear favorite for postseason play. Â Yesterday, all four of the NFC East teams went winless. Â The Giants and Redskins struggled mightily against great quarterbacks, while the Cowboys and Eagles lost close game thrillers. Â While the Redskins and Giants are both winless, they are still in the thick of things to get back on top of the once vaunted division. Â The AFC East normally belongs to the New England Patriots, but they looked terrible on Thursday against their division rival, the New York Jets. Â However, quarterback Tom Brady lost all of his receivers and is now relying on rookies to replace Pro Bowl players. Â The Bills have a young quarterback, but won a thriller yesterday because of his arm. Â Bills fans have an exciting playmaker that looks like he may flourish in the NFL.
