As of March 10, Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker becomes an unrestricted free agent. While many expected the 33-year-old NFL veteran to be considering retirement, Welker says this idea “never came out of [his] mouth.”

Welker comes in as the 20th all time best receiver in the NFL, with 890 catches and averaged 112 catches in a six-season span with the New England Patriots. However, Turing 34 on May 1, Welker has taken his fair share of hard hits throughout his time in the league. After sustaining two concussions in a three-week span during the 2013 season, Welker hasn’t been the same.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported the Denver Broncos are not anticipated to re-sign Welker, as last year’s second round draft pick Cody Latimer may be ready to fill Welker’s shoes.

Regardless of the Bronco’s plans, Welker continues to make known his intentions of playing somewhere in 2015.
