Yesterday, we learned the fate of accused killer George Zimmerman. Â Zimmerman was facing second degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, a young boy walking home from the store. Â Somehow, Zimmerman was found innocent on all charges which caused outrage across the nation. Â Many people chose to express their disbelief over social media. Â There is a dead seventeen year old boy and no one was going to pay for his killing. Â New York Giants wide receiver took out his anger on his Twitter account, sending out this tweet:
Cruz expressing his belief that street justice will handle what the legal system did not. Â Cruz recently signed a 5 year extension with the New York Giants and is looked at as one of the faces of the franchise. Â Realizing that the tweet reflected badly on the Giants, Cruz immediately deleted the tweet. Â He then sent out an apology to anyone offended by his suggestion that Zimmerman will be killed. Â

Cruz may have expressed what many are thinking, but as an athlete everything he does is placed under a microscope. Â Many athletes were also up in arms, but Cruz did the right thing in making sure that nothing reflects badly on the New York Giants. Â Cruz is a new father and he was most likely just acting out how Trayvon’s father must have felt burying his son far before his time.
RIP Trayvon Benjamin Martin
