If there’s one thing that Vernon Davis needed, it was to get out of San Francisco. It already looks like a better fit for the tight end.  Especially with how  QB Colin Kaepernick has been acting including this past Sunday when Kaepernick missed Torrey Smith who was wide open towards the end zone.

When asked previously on being traded, Davis had this to say, “It’s a possibility; you know there’s nothing I can do about it” which is not exactly the most confident answer. However, the split seems to be mutual with the 49ers clearly not using Davis to his potential and the appeal of the Broncos had to be undeniable for 49ers GM, Trent Baalke who was given three draft picks in exchange for Davis.

It could really be a plus for both parties though since Davis would be entering free agency at the end of this season which leaves Davis from having to shop around for a new home and Baalke was able to actually get draft picks which are something that 49ers desperately need.

In his 10 years with the 49ers, Davis has 441 receptions, 5,640 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns. His presence in Denver with an experienced QB should be a great opportunity for him and at the same time give Peyton Manning another offensive weapon which can hopefully keep them undefeated.

Davis took to Twitter in a series of tweets to share his appreciation for the 49ers and although it looks like the separation was mutual, Davis will certainly be missed in San Fran!
