SAN ANTONIO- The UTSA Roadrunners and the Texas State Bobcats will battle in the 2nd annual “H-E-B I-35 Showdown” this Saturday, September 22nd, 6 P.M. at the Alamodome. The game will be aired on ESPN+ and the Ticket 760 AM. Doors open at 4:30 P.M.

UTSA is seeking to obtain their first win of the season, as they lost to Arizona, Baylor and Kansas State. In order to potentially win this game, UTSA needs to come in strong in their run game.  They also performed better with Cordale Grundy as their only QB on the field, so maintaining one quarterback throughout the game to keep a strong momentum going.

UTSA has depth chart of 50% underclassmen as well, so they are going through typical growing pains. This win will help give the Roadrunners the drive they need to succeed for the rest of the season.

Texas State is seeking their second win of the season. Their highest scoring person this season is their kicker James Sherman, so they can put points on the board if they are able to get within field goal range. They also need to eliminate turnovers and focus on passing yards to their strong receivers, Keenen Brown, Javen Banks, and Hutch White.

There is a page dedicated to what colors each section to wear, to flood the stadium in UTSA Orange and Blue colors. There is also a spirit walk, and tailgating events beginning at 3 P.M.

The game will also have a charitable food drive sponsored by Whataburger and the San Antonio Food Bank. Anyone who donates a minimum of two canned goods will receive a coupon for free Whataburger while supplies last.

This is an exciting and intense matchup for southwest college football fans, as both Universities are located within 55 miles of each other and the support amongst both fan bases are extremely strong during the showdown, so we have to ask – who you takin?
