Screen shot 2013-05-22 at 7.20.04 PMBrian Urlacher vowed to not play for another team and when the Chicago Bears did not offer him a contract that he wanted, he made the ultimate decision to call it quits. Originally, Urlacher  thought he had some playing time left in him, but ultimately decided it as best to end his career on a high note.  “I want to thank all of the people in my life that have helped me along the way,” Urlacher said. “I will miss my teammates, my coaches and the great Bears fans. I’m proud to say that I gave all of you everything I had every time I took the field. I will miss this great game, but I leave it with no regret.”  It is rare to see a player stick with one team for their entire team and even more rare for a player to retire after not coming to an agreement with that team.  Loyalty has taken a back seat to lucrative contacts in today’s world and Urlacher’s loyalty to n is commendable.  Urlacher never tried out for  another team, but continued to work out in the offseason.
