Less then a week of being ousted out of the playoffs, the New York Rangers have fired their always entertaining head coach John Tortorella. Â The media should be relieved as Tortorella was notorious for not being the friendliest to reporters after games. Â His tough love style just could not get this team to the promise land after four years and the Rangers decided it was time to cut ties. Â Tortorella did help this team progress as they became the least penalized team this season. Â His team always talked highly of their coach and his coaching style.
Rangers fan will miss Tortorella’s fiery attitude and refusal to be diplomatic. Â He told it like it was and did not care who he offended. Â Many expected the slumping and highly overpaid Brad Richards to be let go, but so far he is still on the team, for now. Â Â The Rangers will have to make some financial arrangements as goalie and MVP Henrik Lundqvist is a free agent and will be looking for a big contract.
