Baseball season has yet to start, but it has already lost one of its best. The former player and longtime broadcaster has decided its time to step away from the sport he loves. The voice of Fox baseball has decided that the 2013 season will be his last as looks to enjoy life more and work less.

He says he still loves the game, but “its time to cut back”. McCarver has been with Fox and co-announcer Joe Buck for 18 seasons.   McCarver also played in the majors with the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies.  McCarver has always been described as the epitome of class and a fan favorite to call games.  Without McCarver’s iconic voice, will watching baseball still sound the same?
