Many times athletes make headlines for getting in trouble with the law. Â This time, Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka is making headlines for giving back to those who need it. Â The power forward had pledged to donate $500 for every blocked shot he has in the NBA playoffs. Right now, Ibaka avergaes 2.7 blocks per game, but I think it is fair to say we all hope he becomes a blocking machine in the playoffs!
The money will be donated to UNICEF and help children living in Congo. Â Ibaka grew up in Congo before moving to Spain as a teenager. Â The money will go to help children receive medicine and other products such as soap and toothbrushes. Â Things that we all have taken for granted. Â So if you do not have a team to root for in the playoffs, root for Ibaka to block as many shots as possible!
