mc-eagles-saints-qbs-0103-20140103Two of the most talked about quarterbacks this season will face off tonight in Philly.   Drew Brees and the New Orleans get ready to face Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles in a very, very cold match up.  All week, the Saints have heard that they cannot win outside and away from the dome, and tonight, they get a chance to prove them wrong.  While Nick Foles looks to extend his great season by leading his team to a playoff win.

It has been quite a year for Nick Foles who started the season as Michael Vick’s backup and ended the season tying the record for most touchdowns in a game with seven.  In a year that was expected to be a down year for the Eagles, they have surpassed everyone’s expectations.  While Foles has been great, having the NFL’s leading rusher on your team.  For the Saints to have any hope in winning tonight, they will have to try and contain LeSean McCoy.   New Orleans defense will have to play its best game to force Foles into throws he does not want to make and keep McCoy from escaping past the line of scrimmage.

The Saints have to play like they do at home, plain and simple.    They will already be without their leading rusher Pierre Thomas, putting  more pressure on Drew Brees.  The New Orleans offensive line has to protect Brees and allow him time to make accurate throws.  One thing working in the Saints favor, the Eagles gave up the most passing yards in the NFL this season.  The Eagles will likely need to use double coverage on Brees’ favorite target, tight end Jimmy Graham.

The Saints are the more talented team and seeing them struggle so mightily on the road is baffling.  If they cannot get over that mentally in a stadium with some of the most passionate fans in the NFL, then they will have a long trip back to New Orleans. Saints vs. Eagles- who you takin?
