In what might have been one of the greatest upsets in Rutgers history, Rutgers went on to beat the University of Conneticut Huskies 67-60. Â It looks like the beginning of the Mike Rice-Eli Carter era. Â Mike Rice is the new head coach for Rutgers and Eli Carter is the very impressive freshman guard. Â Carter had 19 points for the Scarlet Knights while another freshman, Myles Mack, added an additional 14 points off the bench. Â Previously, UConn had beat the Scarlet Knights ten straight times. Â Even though UConn definitely did not play its best game, they had a season-high 20 turnovers, it was a nail biter until the end. It might have been the longest 30 seconds of a sporting event with each side going back and forth to the foul line. Â Coach Calhoun who was coming off a three game suspension tried every trick in the book for the Huskies, but they could not get it going against Rutgers zone defense. Â Rutgers next stop will be against a suddenly slumping Pittsburgh while UConn faces West Virginia.
