201310071758647394526The Boston Red Sox could win the World Series at home tonight for the first time in almost 100 years.  It is the biggest storyline of tonight’s game, but the St. Louis Cardinals look to rewrite the story.  After losing two games at home, the Cardinals know they have to play better to win.  Tonight, they get their rookie sensation, Michael Wacha, on the mound.  Wacha has won all four of his postseason starts.  He opposes John Lackey who pitched one inning just three days ago.

The Cardinals will need to find a way to contain David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz which they have yet to do.  Ortiz has been red hot this postseason, hitting .360 with five home runs and thirteen RBIs, including 11 for 15 in the World Series.  Tonight, he can move back to his DH role, and Mike Napoli will take over first base.  The Red Sox lineup also gets a boost with Shane Victorino getting back into the starting lineup.  Victorino had missed the last two games with a bad back.

The Red Sox have a lot of momentum going into this game.  However, Wacha has been incredible throughout the postseason and the most reliable arm the Cardinals have.  He has out shined Adam Wainwright.  It has not been pitching that is the problem for the Cardinals, but their lack of offense.  They have only scored 13 runs compared to the Red Sox who have scored 21 runs.  If they can get at least three runs tonight, that should be enough to compliment Wacha’s impressive pitching.  Cardinals vs. Red Sox- who you takin?
