Screen-Shot-2013-06-27-at-11.19.30-PMPaul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are going home.  The stage is set for an emotional game at TD Garden tonight as the Brooklyn Nets head to Boston.  This will be the first time Pierce and Garnett will play in the city they won a title together just six years ago.

Garnett, the more emotional of the two, said, “I’m sure the emotions are going to be very high and I’ll react accordingly,” Garnett said, “but we’re there to win a game and I hope this doesn’t overshadow the game. It’ll be good to see [Rajon] Rondo and some other personal friends that, obviously, don’t play. Other than that, it’s another game that I’ve got to be prepared for.”  While Garnett can try to downplay tonight’s game, there is no denying that it will be weird to see them coming out of the visitor’s locker room.

After a terrible start to the season, the Nets have turned things around and are now only three games out of .500.  While emotions may be high, this should be a game that helps Brooklyn get back to a positive record.  The Celtics have their star point guard back, but not much else around him.  In a year that was described as a “rebuilding” time, the Celtics remained competitive for some time, but only because the Eastern Conference as a whole struggled.

As a way to say thank you to two of the best to ever wear the Celtic green, video montages will be played honoring both of them.  Pierce who spent his entire career there knows how much this game means to Celtics fans.  Just a few weeks ago, Los Angeles Clippers new head coach Doc Rivers was visibly emotional after receiving a standing ovation from the TD Garden crowd.  Pierce admits he will likely have a similar reaction.  Nets vs. Celtics- who you takin?
