Here are some of the major transactions at Day 1 of MLB’s Winter Meetings….
♦ The Boston Red Sox have acquired catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli- 3 years for $39 million
♦ The San Francisco Giants have resigned center fielder Angel Pagan- 4 years for $40 million
♦ The San Diego Padres have resigned starting pitcher Jason Marquis- 1 year for $3 million
♦ The Tampa Bay Rays have signed free agent first baseman James Loney- 1 year for $2 million
Those are the major signing for the first day, but there are still plenty of big names left on the market including reigning NL Cy Young award winner RA Dickey and power bat Josh Hamilton.
