Michael Strahan is a familiar face for folks in New York City.  He is a Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants and co-host of “Live with Kelly and Michael” which airs Monday through Friday. He just announced, however, that he will be leaving the show and co-host Kelly Ripa in favor of a full-time role on “Good Morning America”.  The move was a surprise to all, including Ripa and ‘Live’ executive producer Michael Gelman.

According to TMZ Strahan announced the news to both after filming today’s show.  The move is sudden that there is no plan for who will replace the Hall of Fame defensive end.  He joins Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Lara Spencer on GMA.  He will start working in September as a full-time anchor and is expected to remain an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday which airs every Sunday during the NFL season.
