temp121209-detroit-biever-6--nfl_mezz_1280_1024Who would have predicted the Detroit Lions being tied for first place in the NFC North while the Green Bay Packers had a losing record?  My guess is nobody, but with the addition of Reggie Bush to the Lions’ offense, they really look like a different team.  The Packers still have Aaron Rodger, but Greg Jennings is gone and their most reliable receiver has become Randall Cobb.  The Packers may also be without one of their best defensive players, Clay Matthews who is dealing with a hamstring issue.

The Lions’ are coming off a huge division win against the Bears’ where they forced four turnovers.  Both of these teams score a lot of points, but they also give up a lot of points.  The Lions allowed the Bears to make a comeback in the fourth quarter getting outscore 16-3.  If the Lions decide to ease up on Aaron Rodgers in the fourth quarter, that could be very costly.  Megatron is dealing with a sore knee that kept him out of most of the practices this week which would be an incredible loss for the Lions, who already lost receiver Nate Burleson after he got into a single car accident and broke his arm.  They did add veteran Kevin Ogletree after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If Calvin Johnson cannot go, I think the Packers will win and get back to 2-2.  If he does play, I think the Lions can get a very close win and go to 4-1.  Their offense has become so dynamic with Bush being able to run and catch the ball. The Packers are lacking something in their team and it is reflected in their 1-2 record; their only win coming against a horrible Redskins’ defense.   The Packers are coming off a bye week and playing in Lambeau field where the fans desperately want to see their team get back in the division.  Packers vs. Lions- who you takin?
