The Cardinals had a very flat season last year. Let’s just say a very ” undesirable” year leaving fans bored and frustrated with being deemed the worst team in the NFL at 3-13.  Living in Arizona I can feel the disappointment pouring from their fans. Lets face the facts, Arizona hasn’t made an appearance in the playoffs since 2015!

But was drafting Kyler Murray the facelift the organization so badly needs?

I mean Rosen definitely wasn’t getting the job done. He was however, the 10th overall pick of 2018 in which they gave up two draft picks to get the trade. I will never forget the hope he brought to the organization.

Unfortunately, that hope turned to disappointment when Rosen ended the 2018 season with only 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Four of those interceptions resulted in pick-sixes.

Playing in fourteen games this season, he threw for (wait I’m yawning…) 2,278 yards. In fact, since 2000 there has been no rookie quarterback taken outside the number 1 pick to struggle as bad as Rosen and advance on to become a franchise quarterback. I must also mention that this is the FIFTH time the Cardinals have selected a quarterback in the first round. Let’s be real…. the other four never had a winning record.

Obviously, the somber season wasn’t just Rosen’s fault but, maybe the Cardinals wanted a fresh start with an outstanding dual-threat.

Kyler Murray has quite the impressive track record. Even as a child his coaches spoke in such high regard labeling the young athlete “Super-Human”. He had an ability to quickly learn playbooks and bring a vibrance to the field like no other. Murray’s high school career was outstanding ending with forty-two wins and zero losses, and a total of three state Championships.  Also earning “Gatorade Player Of The Year”, he carved an impressive name for himself.

He continued on to college captivating fans. Playing for the Oklahoma Sooners, Murray went 12-2 in 2018 winning the Heisman Trophy.

Pretty impressive! It’s no wonder that Kliff Kingsbury stamped approval on this guy.

Coming from USC as the offensive coordinator and being the former Texas Tech head coach, it’s no secret he plans to run a pass-heavy offense with fast receivers.

But will Murray at his height  of 5’10 be able to consistently play from the pocket on an NFL level?

The NFL is a different game and with opponents such as Aaron Donald sharing your air. Can he really depend on those wheels of his for an extended period of time? That is yet to be seen.

Kyler Murray has been chosen to resurrect the Arizona Cardinals. A quarterback is the most important puzzle piece in a successful organization. One thing is for sure, whether Murray can lead the Cardinals down a road to victory or not, the games will be a bit more exciting.
