Cleveland Cavalier guard JR Smith got great news hours before his team played the Boston Celtics in game four of the Easter Conference Finals. Â Smith and his wife Jewel were able to bring home their five month old daughter Dakota for the first time since she was born. Â Dakota was born five months premature and has been staying in the neonatal intensive care unit at Hillcrest hospital in Ohio. Â Having been born weighing just one pound, she now weighs over seven.
Smith has chronicled the journey since Dakota’s birth on his social media. Â When she was born, the couple posted a video announcing what doctors had told them about their baby girl. Â It has not been easy for the star, but he never gave up. Â Today, he was finally able to post the couple taking their daughter to her real home. Â The couple has two other daughters, Demi and Peyton.
