Yet another athlete has been suspended for violating a drug policy. Â JR Smith, reigning Sixth Man of the Year, has been suspended for five games for violating the NBA’s substance abuse policy. Â Smith recently had knee surgery to repair a damaged patella tendon and meniscus in his left knee. Â Smith had the surgery in mid-July and is expected to be sidelined for three to four months. Â He signed a 4 year/$24.5 million deal with the New York Knicks.
Smith’s partying ways have long been documented in the press. Â He has been accused of partying during the Knicks playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Â Smith did not shoot well against Boston and was suspended for one game after getting into a fight with Jason Terry. Â Smith also recently made promises to fans that the Knicks would win a championship this year.
