As if Derek Jeter was not already considered an all-time great, he goes and proves just how amazing he truly is. While most did not expect him to even play today, Jeter hit a personal milestone by tying the great Willie Mays on the all-time hits list. While he only DHed tonight, he managed to make it count. Jeter’s hit total is now at 3,283 and is number 10 on the list. Derek Jeter represents how the game should be played. He is an all around great player and great sport. You never see him mouthing off or getting into fights with other players. More importantly, you never see Jeter not hustling down the line or making a great throw. Some of the players today may be great, but there is just something so likable about Jeter that other players do not have. One of those players may actually play right next to him (I’m just saying). I hope that Jeter will go on to manage or coach after he retires because the game needs his spirit around for as long as possible. Derek Jeter is the guy you always want on your team, but never want to play against. Oh and he has quite the cute smile that can make your heart melt.
