Who will ever forget last year’s Iron Bowl?  Most likely Alabama fans will try to erase the image of Auburn’s kick returner Chris David returning a punt 109 yards in the final seconds for the win.  A moment that left Alabama fans befuddled as to why the great Nick Saban even allowed a return to even happen with offensive linemen on the field.

Now, Saban and Alabama get their chance at revenge, but this game is about so much more.  This game could help the second ranked team make that final push into the playoffs and fight for yet another national championship title.   Four out of the last five BCS Championships have gone to the winner of the Iron Bowl.  Auburn lost last year’s championship to a Jameis Winston-led FSU team.  With a win today, Alabama can secure their spot in the SEC title game.

“When you play a game like the Iron Bowl, it’s always in the back of your mind,” Tigers linebacker Kris Frost said. “It’s in the back of your mind at the beginning of the season. You don’t look past any team, but you know that game means a lot to us obviously being the biggest football rivalry in the country.”

Auburn has been knocked out of playoff contention after losing to both Texas A&M and Georgia, but look to spoil Alabama’s spot.  Tonight’s game will showcase some of the biggest names in this year’s NFL draft including Auburn’s quarterback Nick Marshall, Alabama’s receiver Amari Cooper, and Alabama’s running back TJ Yeldon.
