After a very long wait, Adam Greenberg finally got his moment. After only getting to see one pitch before his entire major league career was over, Greenberg was given his second at-bat. Greenberg made his debut in 2005 only to be hit in the head by a pitch. Greenberg has since moved on from the pitch that changed his whole life. He is married and started his own health-supplement business.

The Marlins signed Greenberg to a one-day contract as a pinch hitter last Tuesday. The ironic part is that in his first at bat he was facing the Florida Marlins (they had not made the move to Miami quite yet). Unfortunately, he was going to be forced to face one of the best pitchers in the league, knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. “Hopefully there is going to be a lot more of this. This is good stuff,” Greenberg said at a pregame news conference. “I want to show everyone I can play, although you can never really truly do that in one at-bat, especially if it ends up being against Dickey.” He hopes that this is just the beginning and he can make a career comeback. Even if it is not, at least he got a second chance even if he did end up striking out on three pitches. I am sure just the feeling of being back in the box was exciting enough. How many other people can say that Major League Baseball gave him a second chance? Not many.
